ABOUT DS GROUP, INC. -
Dedicated to interface design and technology development, our GUI development program provides manufacturers, publishers and property houses an opportunity to enter the mass market with cutting-edge technology, state-of-the art graphics and proprietary interpretations of licenses, titles, new product and properties for multiple OS platforms. Presently DS Group offers software, interchangeable interfaces and all graphic interface elements for the Macintosh, Windows 95 and Windows 98 platforms.
Staffed by engineers, designers, graphic artists, product development personnel and marketing/licensing professionals, DSG offers a relationship of creativity, insight, cutting-edge technology and profitable results.
TECHNOLOGY -
Engineering original technology is a critical aspect for DSG. Rather than depend on third-party software, questions of stability and platform, we offer original technology that supports our GUI program. Developers and programmers work hand-in-hand with designers and clients to fulfill the vision and insure a solid foundation for every interface project.
DESIGN -
Using our years of experience and training, DSG creatively interprets existing logos, corporate images, characters and other licensed properties. Because of the dynamic window definition our technology provides, we are able to incorporate a broad spectrum of graphic elements to create a complete themed environment throughout the entire interface. Multiple characters, line extensions, photo-realism and conversion of custom and proprietary artwork are easily adapted to every element of the desktop environment.
MARKETING & LICENSING -
Developing and delivering products and premiums for the publisher and manufacturer is a key element at DSG. Whether it is an original interface design, a proprietary interface to expand the market base, a line extension of existing products or a premium, or enhanced value elements of existing interactives. Our Marketing/Licensing division will work closely with a client on new product/premium placement and development of enhanced value interface environments for the mass market consumer.

MAC OS 8.5 APPEARANCE THEME -
The accompanying file is an Appearance Theme for Mac OS 8.5 and greater, and is disseminated as a sample of our interface technology and interface design. For information on our Windows platform interface technology and designs, or should your project require another platform, please use the appropriate contact information found at the bottom of this page.
Installation For Mac OS 8.5 and 8.5.1 Systems -
NOTE: Due to the imminent release of 8.6 and the new resource structure, certain icon resources have not been patched in this theme.
1. Drag the DSG Theme file onto the System Folder icon.
2. A dialog box will appear stating that the file will be placed in the Appearance folder, Themes. Respond OK.
3. Invoke the Appearance Control Panel by clicking on the Apple Menu icon, scrolling to Control Panels and selecting Appearance.
4. The Appearance Control Panel features 6 Tabs. Select APPEARANCE.
5. In the Appearance Menu, select DSG Theme. The system will redraw the windows to show the DSG Theme as active.
6. Make selections in Fonts, Desktop, Sound and Options tabs.
7. Once you have created an interface theme that you like, select the Themes tab, view the Theme in the Custom Themes window and select SAVE THEME.
8. Close the Appearance Control Panel.
9. As the Appearance Control Panel employs hot-switching, you may change the overall appearance of your desktop and interface by repeating the steps above and simply selecting another Appearance.
Installation For Kaleidoscope Users -
Because of the manner employed by Kaleidoscope to call up and replace system resources, it is necessary to completely disable Kaleidoscope and reset your system before using an OS level Theme.
1. Disable the Kaleidoscope Control Panel and Extension.
2. Restart the system.
3. Run Norton Disk Doctor (4.0 and above recommended). You may also run Disk First Aid if you wish. This is a necessary step. Even after Kaleidoscope has been disabled, it leaves a number of replacement icons in the OS, and if the Appearance Control Panel is opened, you may see segments of the previous Scheme in the Custom Theme window.
